NOKKUR AUGNABLIKK UM NÒTT / A FEW MOMENTS ONE NIGHT

It's a beautiful evening in the summer cottage. The grill is heating up when Björk introduces her new boyfriend to her older sister Ragnhildur and her husband. The sisters were raised in a broken home, but their lives have taken different paths. Ragnhildur has recently been voted into parliament and is married to the former soccer player Magnús, now a successful entrepreneur. Björk is on the cusp of making it as a star with her punk band and has recently met Óskar, who looks like a nice guy. Surely, this must turn out to be a fantastic evening...

Adolf Unnarsson's debut play, which premiered at the National Theater of Iceland in 2022, is a gripping narrative that takes unexpected turns. Different generations engage in heated debates about the essence of life, success, happiness, and societal value. However, beneath these discussions, shocking secrets are revealed, lives are torn apart, and beliefs are shattered, leaving the audience on the edge of their seats.

Nokkur augnablik um nótt struck a chord with Icelandic audience and
such was its popularity that the play was adapted into a film, which premiered in 2023.

UNDIR / UNDER / UNTER

A metro station shortly before noon. Five people are waiting for the train when they notice someone lying motionless on the tracks. Did he fall? Did he drop something? Is he drunk? Dead? There are only four minutes to the next train. What's this man doing? One by one, the people at the metro station speak and reenact how they remember this morning. But it's hard to get a clear picture because everyone has a different story that contradicts the one before. There are only three minutes until the next train arrives. Is nobody going to do something? Is nobody going to help the man on the tracks? There are only two minutes to the next train.

Adolf Unnarsson's play, which first premiered in 2024, is a demanding and aggressive text: A dangerous comedy where our ideas regarding society, truth and responsibility are questioned.
